What crops were grown and what animals were domesticated by Mayans?
The Mayans grew various crops. Some of the crops grown by Mayans included, maize (corn), chili peppers, squash, beans and cotton. Maize was generally used to make a staple in the meals that Mayans ate, tortillas. The maize would be ground and formed into the tortilla then it would be cooked. Chili peppers, squash, and beans were also used for cooking. Also chili peppers, squash, beans and cotton were traded along with many other things. Turkeys were domesticated by Mayans to be consumed by humans. Turkeys were the main big animals Mayans domesticated but soon the Spanish domesticated cattle, horses, and various other big animals and traded them with Mayans.
